Founded in 2019, Children of the Millennium is a collective of Melbourne-based music students – each born in the year 2000. The group, co-founded and co-directed by Sean Quinn and Lachlan Harris, consists of a variety of instrumental voices that pose a challenge to composition of the day, and are seeking to work with composers in creating new repertoire for the eclectic mix of instrumentalists. Thus far the collective are hatching plans to perform works by Australian composers Samantha Wolf and Christopher Healey among others, alongside works from the members of the group and international guest composers.
Currently the founding five that make up the group are:
Lachlan Harris – Violin Gillain Tang – Clarinets Vita Daley – Trumpet Lachlan Harris – Percussion [Co-artistic Director] Sean Quinn – Flutes [Co-artistic Director]
While this is the base instrumentation, the group are always looking for new faces to join them in their pursuits. If you feel the urge, flick an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with your instruments and your interests as a musician/composer – if the latter, then please send us a link to your work or an mp3 and pdf of a work you’re proud of. And… make sure you’re born after 2000! 🙂
